My college is holding this small 'haloween costume' context, I'm thinking of walking in and asking the students if I could take their picture in exchange for my site where the photos will be published, good idea or bad idea? Will I seem weird?

What's the worst thing that could happen? They say NO?
You won't know for sure unless you ask, right? Go for it!!

Yeah, I have low self confidence and social anxiety to boot- not to mention some bad experiences, don't want to get in trouble.

Is the contest on college property? Perhaps you should also ask the college for permission? Or just go ahead and shoot away.

Agreed. Approach the college (or the in-house magazine) and ask if they want anyone to shoot the event. Be careful to respect what they say, it might open up new avenues later on.

Yeah it's on college property (I'm a student). I don't even know who I would ask, though.
