What about for Adobe Photoshop CS2? Do I need an update patch so I can view RAW files as well?

If you're using CS3, you'll need to update your version of ACR (it it's not already the latest). I expect there's an updated version that'll work with CS2 as well.

To view RAW files, you can use Bridge (which comes included with Photoshop)

For Photoshop CS3, you need to download and install the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw which is version 4.2. To avoid complications while installing, perhaps you should start up Adobe Bridge, go to Help/Updates and let Bridge download and install the plug-in for you.

Note that you will not be able to view sRaw files with Bridge/Photoshop; only the regular CR2 raw files.

For Photoshop CS2, you will not be able to view any RAW images shot with a 40D camera. The latest compatible version of Adobe Camera Raw for Photoshop CS2 is version 3.7 and it is not capable of reading 40D files. The workaround is to download the free DNG converter and convert you files to DNG format; you will then be able to view them in Photoshop CS2.

Let adobe bridge deal with updates and go to Canon and download the Raw Codec 1.2 and you should be up and running.

See the ACR FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=244018). You need CS4, or to convert to DNG with the free DNG converter.

See the ACR FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=244018). You need CS4, or to convert to DNG with the free DNG converter.

Or use DPP for RAW processing, then convert to tiff or jpeg to work in CS3. Or, use Lightroom 2, or another RAW converter that's been updated.
