I think it's a great object to take a photo of.. but there are a few problems I have with what I think is ytour post processing?
The overall image is now so dark I can hardly tell that it is a cultivator as opposed to a hay rake (I grew up on a farm...)
The contrast is also too much which has contributed to the dakrness.. the shadows in any areas are now looking pure black.
I think the saturation has been pushed too far as well resulting in unnatural colors.
Was this peice of equipment looking old and used.. or had someone actually painted it with a gloss coat of varnish,.. or is that the heavy photoshop saturatipon?
An old historic subject like this would greatly benifit from a softer look.. and in fact B&W and Sepia work well.
If you head back there to get some more shots.. you may want to remove the cinder block and saucer before taking the image or take them out with the clone tool in PS.
Nice eye though for an interesting subject :)

Here is another shot. Yeah, I thought that one was too dark. I cropped this one so it would fit better.. This one is alittle lighter.. I think I had my circular polarizer on when I shot the first one and didn't notice then took it off... I tried to lighten it in photoshop but that is why I posted it to see if anyone could really see if it is useable and guess not... This one might work... I'll move the brick and plate though... ;) I thought it gave it character though!

I agree with CDS, it's a great subject. Here's a possible photoshop enhancement of the first post (pulls up the shadows, selectvely reduces saturation, mutes the artifical color in the midtones) - Sorry, couldn't remove the saucer and cinderlblock - you'll have to reshoot for that :D
If you do go back try to keep the lighting similar, I like the light..
