I know, I've been bad about simply chatting. Too much stuff going on with some orders and a little bit of shooting and trying to do my real job and get ready to go in two weeks!
I hear you on the business end of things - when I come back from the US we're hitting that hard. I'm so blessed to have my friend here out there really pushing and talking things up and making connections! She's invaluable!

Hi Leesa Bee!
Lees how was your wedding yesterday?
Hey you two....I've been reading the fun you had...UGH, oh well...next time for sure, YOU are planning a next time, right?
My wedding, was so nice, the couple was great... a small bit of drama..the sister of the bride was at states in Columbus...right before she finished her fun, she broke her leg, she crawled across the finish line (BTW, looking for anyone who has pictures of this event, for the family), she spent her sisters wedding 5 hours away in a hospital having a metal rod put in her leg. BUT, the family was a bunch of champs, pulled together and it was a beautiful wedding, one of the best we have done. I'm just now uploading and keywording.
Thanks for asking!
You guys were all missed!

Just stopping in briefly (work in the morn). I didn't get to go have fun in NY but we did have a late Halloween party and went as the DITB guys from SNL -- I posted the video earlier.
And as requested here's a picture (only one of both of us on my camera -- unfortunately someone popped their head in the background).

HAHA. I was going to PM you the link just in case you didn't see it here. Surprisingly the majority of people caught on fast then about 3 to 4 hours into the party somebody put the song/video on the laptop and one guy yelled out "Oh my God, the SNL guys! I get it now! For awhile I just thought you guys were Christmas! That's the greatest costume ever"

Nope. Had limited space for gear as I was flying. Bought the Airport International just for this trip and so glad I did. It was full with everything I brought. All of us brought a lot of gear, but didn't have much time to use it. I ended up using my 5D, 20D, 24-70 and 70-200 and 85 with 2 flashes. That was all I could carry while we were walking around.

Deprecating ... can't spell today.
depˇreˇcate /ˈdɛprɪˌkeɪt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dep-ri-keyt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object), -catˇed, -catˇing. 1. to express earnest disapproval of.
2. to urge reasons against; protest against (a scheme, purpose, etc.).
3. to depreciate; belittle.
4. Archaic. to pray for deliverance from.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Origin: 1615–25; < L déprecātus prayed against, warded off (ptp. of déprecārī), equiv. to dé- de- + prec(ārī) to pray + -ātus -ate1]
—Related forms
depˇreˇcatˇingˇly, adverb
depˇreˇcaˇtion, noun
depˇreˇcaˇtor, noun
—Synonyms 1. condemn, denounce, disparage. See decry.
—Usage note An early and still the most current sense of deprecate is “to express disapproval of.” In a sense development still occasionally criticized by a few, deprecate has come to be synonymous with the similar but etymologically unrelated word depreciate in the sense “belittle”: The author modestly deprecated the importance of his work. In compounds with self-, deprecate has almost totally replaced depreciate in modern usage: Her self-deprecating account of her career both amused and charmed the audience.

Absolutely nothing. I've got nothing booked until the 17th, and I've had nothing since October 13th. I feel like I'm in a rut. I've got ads in two papers this week for Christmas photos, so hopefully I'll get something soon! I still haven't properly broken in my new lens!
Attempted taking self-family-portraits yesterday but that was disastrous due to crappy husband's crappy attitude. He has since decided (after 18 hours of me being very, very angry at him) that now he would really LIKE to do nice family pictures. I *may* have threatened to hire a male model to stand in for him.
He's such an arse.

I totally get that. Last year I attempted to do our own as well. My kids would not behave...it was ridiculous, there I was giving all of them crap, pressing the remote and then saying smile. It totally ruined what could have been a nice experience. The last time I got my hubby to smile when I was taking a shot, I did this to him...then he smiled!

*Slightly* more than usual. I need work to distract me from killing him.

Yeah ... my folks are coming up on the weekend, I might just set up the shot and get grandma to press the shutter for us. Husband is always on his best behaviour for his mother in law!

Happily my hubby is out of town for a few days - good timing coz I'm in a rotten mood today ;)
Sounds like a good plan to bring in reinforcements!
I hear you on not shooting enough - I'm in a lull before I head out next Wednesday and really wish I was flat out busy with shooting instead.

Hey Jen, rough night, again,eh?
Give yourself some time...it takes time to build a business...each year, you grow a bit more, change a bit more, You won't have it all, probably never, because as you grow, you'll learn more, want to do more..
So..take a deep breath, dust yourself off...and get back in there...when your not busy doing photography, work on other areas...even your house, husband and kids, because it's all a part of what we/you do. Remember int he spring you have a studio to build...start making plans.
If your husband gives you a hard time, love him anyways...but, keep going.
When I first wanted to get into photography, I really REALLy went through a few things, in fact, I actually broke into it 3 years later then i actually wanted because of "things" in my way. I never let the things stop me, I just kept planning and waiting and then..I did it.
Just take a deep breath, step away if you have to...the downers don't help you or anyone. Do what you can with what you have. the doors will open. they will...and things will work out, they generally do.
Look at the steelers...(sorry, but really WOW)

*breathes* Thanks Lisa! I needed that. I get impatient and want everything to happen NOW ... and I get frustrated when things slow down. I am a go-go-go gal and if I don't have a million things to do, I tend to not do anything at all. My house is a disaster at the moment and there's no excuse for it.
I am painting the baby's big girl room next week, and possibly laying the laminate in my office, so next week I will be happy and busy! And hopefully shooting like crazy, since I'll have babysitters for the week!

Jen, next week, you'll be on top of the world.
Get to cleaning girl...I'll be right behind you. I just shot my last wedding of the year...bitter sweet, but I have some classes I want to take and I have some things I want to change and do.
Your gonna make it...
I am going to bed happily tonight, as the Steelers will very soon be on top of the Browns....ahhhhhhh sweet victory for the lone steelers fan in the house! No one is even talking, it's so quiet here, LOL...gotta love it.
Night everyone...I'll be a chatting tomorrow for sure.

We were watching the game, but now I'm watching Dancing with the Stars.
I have one wedding left this year, a maternity, at least one e-session, a January wedding ... things will pick up, just the here and now kinda sucks.

bulb mode? or Tv with long shutter?

Manual shutter between 2.5 and 30 seconds
the 30 second is reasonable, but it amazes me how inconsiderate peole are when people are taking pictures, I even went right away from everyone else and this one guys walks down whilst I'm in the middle of a shot and not only knocks the camera, proceeds to stand in front of me! grrrr

Welcome to my world ;)
well heres 2 pics one 4 second exposure, and one 15 second exposure, I wanted the sky to represent a colour of Bon Fire night. I must admit the council here put on a good display. I done close up last year, so I wanted to try a wide angle this year.

i love it when the sky goes that warm red... even though we both know how cold it was last night!
The first shot is very good, looks like quite a large display they put on... i didnt recognise the bridge? But a quick google search revealed it to be the Runcorn-Widnes Road Bridge :)

Well, I have about 800 left of the wedding/reception, I'm going to pull a few 100 out to PP them, then get them ready to put up online.
We take a TON of shots, that too is changing next year! LOL learn as you go.
Niraj
6th of November 2007 (Tue), 08:33
800!!! what's your hit/miss ratio like?
Is that the total amount of shots you took, or the total amount of good hits?
