Yes, ooo she is ready to go, problem, her husband has a pretty good job, 18 bucks an hour, she works for my son at home. BUT he has said if he can get in GM at a good GM price, he will go! SO I have my goal.
Put him to work at Costco, my daughter says there is one close to where you are moving, in St. Peters I think. Costco pays well and the benefits and retirement are excellent.

he has a good paying job with benefits, but it's slowly going down hill,
he works for a company called Kraftmaid, they make top of the line cabinets etc.
Ok, heard from my husband, he made it there in 9 hours taking it easy so he knows it can be done in 8 for sure. yeah!
town is very nice, all the schools are supposed to be great. So, I guess I will see what my sons says when he gets there

Please no. I have a hard enough time with the English language as it is. I don't need another language to confuse myself with.

Awwww. That is so sad! Great picture though. I am going to make a point of stopping in our cemetery today and see if I can find some angels.
Kathy,
Here is one more sad one...this young lady was 24 years old and died in 1918. I wonder if it was from the worldwide flu epidemic? I have never seen a grave stone like this before.

Thanks Jim, she just started that. Most of her life she's looked like her daddy.
Mom says she's a blonde haired, blue eyed me. Only her hair is starting to turn brown I think.
Oppisite though with the baby. She looked more like me at first, now she looks like my husband more.

Some of us are. Some of us are using "texture" in the form of "high ISO noise."
This is also because some of us have no clue how to use textures. One of these days "some of us" will learn how to use Photoshop properly.

I did the pony tail first and then snaped the bow above the band. She 'likes bows' right now...but not always. I think she forgot about it.

LeesaB
2nd of June 2008 (Mon), 23:14
I've seen a photographer shoot an entire wedding with his kit lens AND do an amazing job, me, it would be a total disaster.
I had those tamrons and my second still shoots with one. I just rented her the 24-70 2.8L canon lens because she is having major issues with her focus, and other things, IF she can't shoot with the 24-70 then it's her, but I'm betting it's the lens, I had the same issues.
I hate to tell you there is a difference, but for me, there was/is a huge difference.
I've still got a long LONG way to go.

It'll work it's way out eventually. Just stuff that doesn't need to be aired out on a public forum.
Anyway, someone needs to be teaching us how to do textures. The only problem I saw with the textures that were posted earlier is that I don't think they could legally be used on images from wedding photogs as they'll be making money off them.

Chris, those were offered on a public forum for people to use, so I think they can be....
She listed then on a site I belong to that gives away textures, templates and such,

I guess I interpreted the Creative Commons license differently.
From the site:
"Full size images with creative commons (non commercial usage) licenses."
Would "non commercial usage" mean that you can't make money off any use of the textures?

How strange, because it was offered on that site,I'll make sure the site owner knows that then and can clarify it or make them take it back.

Yup. Rehearsal tonight is going to be fun. Last week, I had to deal with people forgetting to check if they had music when the conductor announced the rehearsal order (but why would anyone want to put their music in order to save time). Which then led to me almost killing a bassist for just making hand gestures at me to signify that he didn't have the piece.
One might even say I'm taking on one part of Tom's signature (and it ain't old or tolerated).

Steph, I use Kodak Digital Gem Professional. I find it to be much more skin friendly han Noisewear or Neat Image and it has sliders to adjust softeness, sharpness, clarity, etc. I think it cost about $99 when I purchased it 3 years ago.

I'm with Lisa, Noise Ninja on a picture by picture basis. I bought the "lite" version and it will not allow a batch run.
I also have a German product called DXO that allows me to batch process when necessary. I DXO for "free" when my brother bought it with a 4 install license. It is a very complex photo adjustment tool.

I'm not sure why you seem to be apologizing, I don't mind your questions, I don't think anyone else does either and I think people answer them when they can or are on. SO, don't sweat it. It's what the forums are about asking and learning and doing.
we don't always have all the answers and when we don't you can go to the topic in the forums and do a search and sometimes you can find an answer that way, I have done this before and generally it does help.
You mix a good bit of chat and questions so I don't think you are any different then any of us. So enjoy, relax and ask away.

Ask away, Steph. I have no website or formal business but I get regular phone calls and shoot once or twice a month for clients. And that is enough for me because I already have a full-time job at the hospital.
EDIT: I also just signed up as a volunteer for "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" which is an org. that takes bereavement photos for new parents.

You know, for me, when I get behind the camera "I'm working" I've told this story a few times but, almost 5 years ago, I had to bury a very close friend. The family asked me to photograph the event, he was not a rock or movie star but in his circle he was famous and the funeral was a true production. Another of our friends who served in Vietnam was a pall bearer and when they put Stan's casket in the back of the limo, he dropped to his knees and wept like a baby. Had I not been behind he camera I know I would have lost it, right then and there. I managed to maintain by just being in "working" mode.
Same thing happened when my daughter had Ami, they took her down for an emergency C section, I felt myself "loosing it" so I grabbed my camera and just started to shoot the Doctors going in, my SIL putting on a gown etc, until he came from the room with Baby Ami, I followed the whole thing and kept myself "together"
Plus I'm an ugly crier, it just is not a pretty sight.

Morning, All!
Steph - I don't actually have any noise reduction software at the moment. I looked at Noise Ninja and downloaded their trial version, but haven't needed it since last year, so never bothered to buy any. I like to read questions like yours so I can keep up with what's out there should I need to buy something later LOL
lisa - how's the week going? Is hubby settling in?
Kudos to you two for volunteering in that way. I think it's a great organization and a really important part of the grieving process. I wish more people had access to it.
So today has started, and I'm crossing my fingers it's smoother than yesterday. Yikes! What an afternoon that was.
I've just put a special for prints up on my blog and sent out emails to past clients, so it will be interesting to see if a little discount incentive will nudge more sales this month. I'm leaving on holidays at the end of the month and didn't want to take on much actual shooting, just in case things went phooey and I was pushed for time, so this seemed like a good way to try to keep busy!

Where is our fearless leader? he's abandoned us? Nah, he's probably off saving the souls of countless POTN posters...
I say let Tom have the honors of turning us over again!

I just saw your post on going into the zone when you're working. I find I do this, too - I know what's going on around me, but I don't let it get to me. And I've been lucky not to have too much sadness or melancholy around me.
Except for the speech the groom's friend did to celebrate their dog that had died just before the wedding. The groom felt about his dog almost the way I felt about my beloved Diva and it took a lot of control to get back to the task at hand!

I guess I can seperate well, work and emotion. Not a pro at it, but ask my assitant, when I am working, I am working! I mean business and I intend to do well and get the shots I need. I do have to watch when I get too far into the zone, I don't want to offend bystanders.

Luckily weddings are usually fun happy affairs so you can get some giggles in while you're working to keep grounded!

yes I am glad about that for sure.
I have another wedding this weekend, yeah! I love it when I am working, down time is hard for me, but this year downtime will mean exploring a new city! I'm sure my blog will be doing well.

Great on the wedding this weekend - hope you get picture postcard weather for it.
I'm hoping to take a day or two for myself this weekend and hit the ocean - who knows what will happen, though, this week has been screwy so far and planning anything concrete just isn't in the cards right now!
Bring on the holidays, I say!

Hey there Leesa - good to see you all. I've been trying to dig myself out from wedding and bar mitzvah proofs and a never ending "honey-do list."
