Mt. Defiance overlooks Fort Ticonderoga, which you can see here at the
lower right. In addition to the beautiful views across Lake Chaplain into
Vermont as seen here, the British hauled their cannon (not Canons)
to the summit of Mount Defiance and forced the American revolutionaries
to abandon the vulnerable fort.
My wife and I visited here recently as part of our Lake George vacation. This
is a very touristy but scenic area that will reward those who look hard for a
lightly used public beach.
