Ok I'm planning a trip to Flagstaff and Page for a Photography Workshop in Page on Nov 6th. By the time this trip takes place I hope to have:

Sigma EF-500
Canon 17-40mm f/4L or the 16-35mm f/2.8L
and the Canon 20mm f/2.8 USM Macro lens

now here is where the ques comes in, I have a 256 card and have been debating what to upgrade too. I'm not too worried about price but I am worried about keeping all my photos. I will shoot in RAW so I will use up a lot of space real quick(yall know this), so i'm wondering what size card should i go for, should i get multiple cards, and whose should I get?

thanks in advance

PS this is what i'll be doing there

For 256MB CF cards, you will need to have at least two or three, and then have some type of portable storage drive to dump those two at the end of each day of shooting.

When I am in the field on a special trip, I shoot anywhere from 1GB to 2GB during the course of the day. Then after sunset, I weed out a few that are obviously bad and dump the rest to my X-drive.

what cards do you have?

I'm thinking getting either the SanDisk 1GB @ $120 or the Lexar Media 1GB @ 135. I've had the 256MB Lexar for almost a year and have had no trouble, may stick with this brand.

I don't think i'll buy just one either, may get 2 or so.

also what is the difference between Type I and Type II cards, II are faster?

SanDisk are good. You won't really notice any speed difference between the two manufacturers in a DRebel.

CF type 2 is a slightly thicker (5 mm vs. 3.3 mm) card than CF Type 1. MicroDrives and early versions of high-capacity CF flash memory cards tend to be CF Type 2. As they start growing smaller circuits, they're able to make the flash drives thinner Type 1s. But absolutely no conection to speed.
