I am interest to buy this lens and use it with a Canon 10D camera, I have seen very positive reviews on internet but not examples of shots taken with with lens. I am looking for a very fast ans sharp lens and I just do not trust reviews if I do not see any picture with it. Does anybody have some links for me ?

Thanks

Man, I wish I had the link. There was a link I found at work the other day that a guy did a side by side comparision with the 1.4 50mm canon and the 1.8 50mm canon and let me tell you the 1.4 is a GREAT lens and I can't wait to get it but the bank of wife said I was turned down for a loan. At 1.4 it was alittle soft but at 1.8 and up WOW. it was amazing. I guess I'll have to go back down into the basement and find more stuff to put on ebay if I want to buy this lens....

well.. links won't tell the whole story since most probably it's a lo-res version in which you can't really observe lens performance from.

anyway,
both the 50mm lenses are a very good performer.

although I recommend getting the 50 1.8 instead. cause:
1. it's 1/3 the price
2. it's very light
3. the USM on the 1.4 is micro USM (slow), not the same as ring USM (fast) on more expensive lenses. compared with the very light glass on the 1.8, AF is just as fast on the 1.8 if not faster.
4. with a 10D you don't really need the extra 1/2 stop

actually, the review of canon 50 1.8 vs 1.4 is somewhere in www.photo.net. do a search there.

I did a bunch of tests when I first got this lens but unfortenatly, I did not keep them. to resume it: GREAT SHARP lens. and for narow DOF, it's the best I've seen so far. take your 10D to trhe store you plane to buy from or jsut any store that carries it, take differents shots and analyze them yourself, that's the best way to make your mind

Ok, and the 1.8 only has 5 diaphrahms compared to the 8 of the 1.8, the 1.4 is sharper and more vibrant, It has LESS flare, there is more light fall off with the 1.8, the 1.8 is lighter because it is made of plastic so it can break eaiser, it has less elements... But oh yeah, its better

Save your money and buy the 1.4....

I don't like the 1.8 bokeh and the build is real cheap.

Bokeh: If you have point sources of light, it's gonna produce uneven sharp non circular bokeh, which is really distracting. 1.4 doesn't do that.

Build: My brother's super plasma pistol for 7.99 is sturdier than this POS. They even cheaped out on the mf/af switch. Doesn't feel really good. And with the rate I change my lens, I'm gonna wear out the plastic mount in a year or so. :?

I currently have it, but I will change it for the 1.4 version real soon.

shot at f3.2 btw.

well... i managed to make something out of this $90 lens. bought it for the shot. sold the photo the next day for $170. not bad.

you want to spend $200 more for something just so you won't have to handle something plasticky? go ahead. i don't think it's worth it.

Here is a test I did of the 50 f/1.4. It shows the relationship between image sharpness, DOF and f stop.
