Please be gentle. Some friends of mine asked me to take some photo's at their wedding. Taken with 10d and Sigma 24-80 2.8 zoom. Softened in photoshop. Too much or what ?
This is my first post to any forum or critique post so please be gentle.

A bit too much in some areas.
Try this:
Make a duplicate layer & soften it. Then erase away the areas that you want to keep sharp, like her eyes.
It's a bit contrasty, too. A bit of detail in her dress & his coat would be nice.
Still, her mother will love it!
Is that a scar on his cheeK? I wouldn't remove it, but would lighten it some so it doesn't stand out as much.

Thanks for the constuctive remarks, the scar you remarked on was when the groom on entering a pub had a glass smashed in his face. Very nearly died. So as far as hiding the scar not a problem, I think they are all glad to still have him. But thanks for the advice for future attempts with people with minor problem areas.

No critique as PhotosGuy did quite a good job in that area. I will give some support on your first critique post and say I like the photo. I'm not the best at people photos, but you seem to have done a good job. Keep it up!

I have a couple of suggestions, but take these with a pinch of salt as I have no experience of wedding photography.
Firstly about the location of the shot - the white building in the back is pretty distracting.
Secondly you have to remember that cameras aren't as good as the eye at dealing with differences in contrast. As photosguy said, her dress is a bit blown out and his suit is very dark. More ambient light would probably help with this. You might get this outside, but if its too bright then the dress will be blown out anyway.
Hope this helps. Oh and don't worry about submitting photos here - everyone is pretty gentle :)

One beautiful couple, and I agree with the advice that you have received.
May I also suggest cropping the image about 3 inches above the groom's head, and 5 inches below the bride's hand.

I have this dream to "paint" with PS filters and layers (I never showed much promise in HS! ). Be that as it may, I had lots of fun working on the following version of your image!
