Here are some pictures snapped yesterday in Kittery, ME at Nubble Lighthouse. The last picture is of my son Nate.
All pictures were taken with my D-Rebel and either the kit lens or my Canon 80-300MM.

As far as the lighthouses are concerned, I really like #1 better. #2 isn't bad, but there's nothing showing the topography or to give any other reference.
Your son is great!

Thanks Belmondo...
I appreciate the reply...I am a big newbie to all these features (speaking of the D-Rebel) compared to my old point and shoot DC.
Is there anything I could have done better in any of the shots?

 I'm the worst one to ask about anything, but a little fill flash on your son's picture might have brightened him a little. The sun looks to have been a little behind him, so his face is in shadows.
I don't know if you tried a circular polarizer with the lighthouse shots, but it might have made the sky a little more dramatic by darkening it some.
These are very nice pictures, and I think they show good instincts. Keep it up.

Color balance was just a bit off - too cyan. This is most evident on the shade side of the lighthouse. Learn to USE the white balance feature - don't just leave it at Auto.
A quickie fix is here. I also removed some of the lawn warts. All in all, a nice eye. Keep it up.

Hi Radtech1 -
Thanks for taking the time on your post. I appreciate the info as I am still learning all of the many features of the D-Rebel.
Just as a newbie question, what should I do with the WB setting for taking a shot like the lighthouse picture you reworked? Also, I do have Photoshop and have played with it a small amount, but what did you do to change the look of that picture?
Thanks again for the reply! :D

composition wise the first one is great, seems a tad to dark though maybe a little brightness or contrast but be careful don't want to over due it. the picture of your son is great, nice job all the way around. :D
