Given that another couple of weeks has gone buy and I have done no shooting, I have been reduced to processing more of my old sierra images. not a good habit. Anyways, I was playing with selective toning of highlights and shadows and came up with this. what do you think?

Works for me, I really like the backround of the mountain. Thanks for sharing.

the mountain peeking out is incredible.

This definitely works for me. The composition is really good and I too like the mountain peaking out.

I think it's great! The foreground is so rich -- I want that in my back yard! I have messed around with the split toning adjustments and I think they're cool!

Keep up with your creative work!

Good work.

Even if the results do not always come out as you expect, it is still good training for honing your Photoshop skills.

I have seen pictures of Mono Lake before and wondered about the strange looking "things" -- are they mineral deposits?

Great job, Kevin! Nothing wrong with re-visiting the archives. I've done it in the past too!

I like it, it's not the run of the mill landscape.

I think you have done a wonderful job of re-working this image. The original has such great composition that it makes the retouch that much more pleasing. I like the fact that you didn't make it look unreal!

By the way, for those that haven't heard, Mono Lake has just recently started refilling. Shots like this may not be possible in the next few years. They are predicting it will take as much as ten years to refill. So, take good care of your originals of this place, we may never see it again like it is now. Well, at least not in our life times.

:( I thought I had a big monitor, but it's too small to see the pic as a whole :(

I do like what I see though :)

They're called tufa towers, and they are made of calcium carbonate. And to billbo: the lake's level has been rising since 1994. :)

It's one of my favorite places on Earth, and it has an incredibly rich history.
