My search for this topic just showed some earlier people had seen previews of the Canon PSE software. I DLed it and it seems like it doesn't actually allow you to edit the picture style files - it just seems to let you apply the styles to RAW files - which we could always do with DPP.
So now that some of you have DL'ed this sw (with no manual) does anyone see what new functionality this will give us? I ahven't used the picture styles but thought if this was a way I could create my on from scratch that might be something interesting to try.

So far I have used it only to make some P.S.'s that have an altered tone curve - for instance one that reduces gamma to approximately 0.85 for images that have been exposed to the right or another that mimics Highlight Tone Priority by opening the shadows while preserving the highlights. Here is the manual online:

If you want it in .pdf send me your email address in a PM.

I'll check that online manual out.
So, it actually does something that DPP doesn't do?

Indeed it does. In fact it doesn't do anything that DPP does. It's for editing Picture Styles, not images. The only reason you need to open an image in it is in order to visually see the effect of the changes you are making to the P.S. or to act as a source of colors if you are using the eye-dropper.

Aha, makes sense. I was wondering why when I went to the File menu I could only open pictures, not picture style files.
thanks
