A quick question

Hi,

I got married last year in China, this year (July 20th) we had a blessing in the UK, so at least the tight wads in family could celebrate :lol:.

Now to the point of the post, we paid a reasonable sum for the photo's and the album. The deal included two photographers the layout and the printing. Having talked to at least 5 other photograhers and looked at samples this bloke was by far the best.

Now, we waited 7 weeks to go and see the photo's and decide which one's went in the album. We were told that we would have the proofs 6 weeks after that. It's now been 8 weeks and still no proofs. The email I got back when questioning this was curt to the point of being offensive.

Now I know these things take time but there will be another delay waiting for the album to be printed (granted not under the control of the photographer).

So after the ceremony in July, I'll be lucky to get the album before the new year.

Anyone think I'm being unreasonable about wanting my album?

Yup, 2 weeks to pick the photo's then 6 weeks to get the proofs and a final 6 weeks for the completed albums.

I understand your frustration, but on the bright side... think how great it's going to be to see your photos after some time has passed. I always find it boring to look at photos of an event right after it's happened.

I think you are right to question what is taking so long, but I just wanted to try to find a positive spin. Hope you get them soon!

I think his time frames are reasonable for a high volume wedding photographer, even being a little late is understandable, but his rudeness isn't acceptable. Albums take 4-6 weeks to get printed by my supplier so don't be too suprised about that either.

That's nothing...our wedding was in February and I still don't have my 4x6's (whoppee) or my album. And I know this photographer...shot second for him in August in fact. Have no idea what his problem is...

This is not acceptable it gives us wedding photographers a bad name, i assume you live in the uk? go to the small claims court don't let him get away how many more are being messed about?
My turn round is proofs ready by the time the honeymoon over, 2 weeks to pick photos etc, 1 week returned, job done. good luck.

Albums are really time consuming, especially if the couple chooses the images, and moreso if they have to give more input. Then album production does take a heck of a long time. That's no excuse in this case.

Sometimes these things take time. I just went through a similar situation. My wedding was in June. I was told 3-4 months total turn-around time. I just got me album this week. This was after calling a couple times to keep checking up on the progress and state how I was eagerly awaiting the final product. It can be frustrating but you will hopefully enjoy the product when you get it.
My album was not what I expected and I am currently dealing with that :-( The photog asked for picture selections and then decided by themselves that those would not be used. I was never consulted--

For a photographer who's extremely busy, this really isn't unheard of. It takes a great deal of time to design a decent album, especially if you have to deal with a bride who wants to make numerous changes. That's why I charge for more than two revisions. And I can't comment on the photographer's demeanor as perceptions of the behavior of others differ.
