View Full Version : My new Canon D60 makes defect coloured pictures

Suddenly my D60 takes pictures which all show strong mis-colouration. Colours look like inverted in big portions of the picture - large areas of red appear on the picture. Blue sky for example is shown red in the picture - bright areas always show highest discoloration......
I tried in all kind of modes - but always the same effect on the picture....
I do not know what is wrong - but maybe someone has made the same experience and can tell me what is wrong.... and what I should do to fix it........
I am really worried.

Post a sample picture with EXIF info. Did you make any adjustments to the parameter settings? What firmware version are you running? Have you contacted Canon?

I have already updated the firmware to the new version I found on the internet - but the problem is not gone. Same as before.
I checked all setting and made sure I apply tandard settings... - but no success......
Tomorrow I will Canon but I am here in Korea and usually all they can do is send the amera away. Also I worry about the warranty as I have European warranty - so I am not sure if it also valid here in Asia.
I tried to post a sample picture - but I can not paste the file in here - is there a special trick I have to use?
Thanks in advance for advise.........
Bsically I like the D60 and I saw in internet some people shoot great pictures - but I am completely unhappy about the situation I am in now........

In order to post a picture, you have to host on a webserver somewhere. Then you embed the link in the message. Or you can email me the photo along with all the EXIF info and I'll post it for you.

Okay I tr to find a webserver.....
Today I talked to Canon and the specialists told me that the discoloration happened to other people with a D30 and D 60 also...... mostly it was a problem about a connection pin inside the camera which might become loose - but they need to open it so see the problem clearly..... I m now waiting for the check result.....
Anyway it seems to be a known problem......
Unfortunately that Canon place did not want to accept my warranty - so I will have to pay for repir even though my camera is just new..... its poor - but thats reality in Korea.......
Any isea if I can get back the money from Japan headquarter for the repair?

I have the same problem with my 2 D60's that I received after being on a couple of waiting list.
I also still have my D30 which takes much better color pictures. The exposure is also much more accurate than the D60. I have upgraded to the new firmware version, and this did not help.
The resolution of the D60 is BETTER, but exposure and white balance have changed from the D30 for the worse. IMHO
Nobody was more excited than me after reading every review of the D60.

I came from the D30 as well. The exposure hasn't changed a bit.
The problem is something you're probably forgetting.
Have you verified all your exposure settings are correct?
What mode are you shooting in? (I stick to Av mainly or P for shots I can't plan).
Are you sure you don't have exposure compensation set incorrectly or unintentionally?
Can you post some JPG samples with EXIF info? It would be MUCH easier for me to troubleshoot the problems with your photos if you sent along this information.
If you don't have a webserver or a pbase.com account to post your pictures, email them to me at karl@weckstrom.com and I'll post them for you.
