View Full Version : Monitor (& Tablet)

My aging eyes and wrist can't take it anymore, so I am going to replace my old Sun 17" CRT and get a tablet. I'm just beginning researching, but a couple things I can't find:

Reading through information on monitors here and elsewhere, there is discussion on advantages of different monitors for gaming vs. editing, but very little on text / spreadsheets. I kinda figured it didn't matter, but then I came across a couple comments elsewhere from people who returned monitors due to halos around text and smaller fonts being quite difficult to read. I do no gaming, but I do a lot of email and web browsing and this will be my sole monitor. Does someone know what to look for to ensure text is good?

On tablets, must the aspect ratio be matched to the monitor? Also, would they become the sole input item, or can I also run my mouse?

TIA

I use a Wacom and a mouse. (And a keyboard, duh)
It's nice to have the tablet in the same ratio as the screen. Otherwise you are not using part of the tablet...

LCD displays should always be run at their native resolution, otherwise they will be 'fuzzy'

Thanks.

I kinda figured the mouse would still work, just wanted some confirmation. :)
If the only downside iis an unusable portion, I would live with that if it meant I realized a decent cost savings for a quality tablet. Still, I'll do what I can to match 'em up.

Now, which monitor...

BTW, thanks for the links you listed in other "monitor" threads. I'm looking through them.

Welcome ;)

Well, you get what you pay for... I have a Wacom Graphire at home (budget reasons), but I want to get an Intuos... The graphire is noticably worse...

So again: Buy cheap = buy twice.

That's what I'm looking at in 6x8, maybe 6x11, now that I spent some time looking around.

Thanks, oh Great Keeper of Links. :)
