Showing at Bridal Expo Tomorrow!
Have you done them? Got any advice? I've been working on the whole setup for weeks.
6 huge enlargement framed
2 small frames for table
5,000 business cards
2008/2009 Wedding Pricing Sheets
Contract Sheets
4x6 full color flyers
Large screen display with looping aprox 100 of my best images
3'x6' full color quick screen
2 Laptops - with WAN internet
3 high quality albums
Sample CD package
That's all I can think of right now!
Wish me luck!

How large is your booth? I'm planning to take some seating, lighting, carpet, and a coffee table to the ones I'm doing in the spring. Some of the set ups can be quite elaborate. Just do something eye catching, and you'll be fine.

Just a thought. Depending on the size of your booth, how about a couple of lights and your camera, backdrop etc... Take a couple of pics of the future happy couple, (assuming that is who you would expect to see at these events). Getting sent free pics may make people more willing to divulge their contact information, details of when they are getting married etc.
Now you've got an angle for a follow-up sales letter, with a nice print of them in your booth, putting you fresh in their memories a few weeks/months after the expo.
Don't know if this is a good idea or even already common practice but thought I'd throw it out there as something that I would probably do in a similar situation.

Thanks everyone for checking in. I just got back from the show and I'm so beat! It's my first show and I was super excited to show my work. The show was great other than the fact they stuck us in a corner next to the bathroom. I guess that what I get for registering the last minute. It was so nice to talk to all the brides 2b and share with them our work. My wife reel them in and I gave them my 1min pitch. We did have 3 sample albums and the "quick screen" is what you see on the right... aka media screen. I got one from this company. http://www.expandmedia.com/. It's so compact and expand to a beautiful banner. The banner, base and built quality is top notch too (All aluminum / made in Scandinavia).
We had a few people signed on the spot and paid deposit because they were so keen on us, which made me very happy. I was thinking to myself... "You ladies ROCK!"... :-) . It wasn't all about the money because god know we're NOT making any money yet for the past two years. Just the fact that they recognize our creativity and admire our work is.... just so nice.
We got a lot of girls going with their mom. The ladies are making 100% decision of the photographer choice here. Just as expected.
I think most bride 2b going to these shows are just a little overwhelm to make any decision while at the show.
So far we have 12 paid booking for 2008... I have the feeling that by early next spring. I'll be up in the 20s... Oh man it's gona be a fun year.

Thats the link in your Signature, I am guessing tims talking about the static link in your Forum Profile which you still currently have set as this > http://www.lamsnap.com/
Go to user CP (top left) and you can update your homepage from there.
Really liking your new site btw, good job !

hi barbara, the biggest challenge at the show was getting framed picture to hang on their stupid rod can curtain setup. One thing you have to keep in mind is that there's no wall for frames lean against. I got some thin metal wires (1mm dia.) from homedepot and twist tie it to the metal clip behind the frame. But that wasn't good enough since clips are 1/3 a way down from the top. This would mean that the frame would tilt forward when hung. I then drill holes on the top of the frame and ran the wires from clip straight up though the hole. This resulting in the wire contact point to the frame is at the very top of the frame. This way the frame will not tilt forward. I then use "S" hook to hang the wire to the curtain top rod. I couldn't find these "S" hook at homedepot, good thing I was able to get a few from our neighbor vendor at the expo.
You may want to bring a table cloth too. I use one of my black westcott backdrop as a table cloth. The table they had for us had table cloth but it was so nasty and dated looking.
Make sure you have a small treat of somesort for bride to snack while they visit your show. :)
Good luck at the show.

I would have loved to see some photos of the booth as well... frustrating to open a thread and see all these comments on a photo, and then there's no photo because it was removed... it's nice to see what people are commenting on.

Hey! Sorry about that. I was cleaning out my temp folder on my site and accidentally deleted those images. I found those photos on my archive and now they're on a dedicated area of my site for forums so they won't get wipe out again.
My wife and I glad that we went to the show because we have about 4 leads so far from that event.
Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions!
Those images are on the first page and also below.

I wouldn't complain about being put next to the toilets, its a great position. Not everyone visits every stand at an expo but most women will visit the toilet!
When I'm shooting functions I want to be either near the bar, near the entrance to the main function hall or near the toilets. Get to where the trades is going to be.
Well done on the stand, effective but maybe a little cluttered.

WOW!! Awesome set-up! I love love love the banner you have to the right of the table. Do you do all of your own marketing/design? Just wondering, I think a photographer that also knows graphic design has a great advantage, and all of your promotionals look tip-top! nicely done.

Thanks David, My background is graphic design. I was as sucessful at it but found photography to be my new found love. Alot of what I know of design and advertising translate very well my photography work and marketing for myself. The banner is awesome - you can learn more about it here -> http://www.expandmedia.com/ .
