Okay, the last one from the sequence That I started last night, but it had exceeded the 8-pic limit, but that's good 'cause it needed some touching up:)! My favorite, by the way, because it is quite sharp (except for the tip of the wings that escape depth of field) and, I just love to look at the "expression" on its face! These birds do look like they have attitude! And then, the overall scene is, to me, great...

Excellent shot with beautiful pose. The dark BG works well here. :-)

STRUTTIN' HIS STUFF !
The exposure, color and details are excellent. At first the branches bothered me but the more I looked at this stunning bird the less they mattered. A superb capture Tony...tom

Thanks again for your compliments, I'm back from an early morning visit...there was a heron at a distance that I might be able to post a shot or two of (as well as hundreds of ducks and a curious and hungry nutria but this isn't a large rodent forum:)). I'll see what comes of it all!
Thanks again,
Tony

Steve,
Hey, in the midst of all that desert, you still have some great spots! One of these days, I'll have to hike the Grand Canyon! In the meantime, snakes and lizards have their own photographic charms:)!

Tom, if you saw my earlier post with the beginning of the sequence, the heron was working its way down from one spot to another through branches and such, so the branches were part of the scenario, but this one shot does stand apart due to the sharpness and the pose...who knows? I may PP the branches out!

Tony, I might be able to find some big blues if I can find some water. I know a few places like painted rock resevoir down south of Gila bend. I will need a blind for that place. I was only there one time, and the birds are really skittish. If you come to the Canyon, you want to be here in May, and early June to shoot California Condors, they are all over the south rim, and easy to photograph. Contact me if you plan to come next year...I'll show you some great spots to shoot from...steve

Thanks Karen! Definitely one pic where I don't worry about lightening up the shadows!
