Why can't Canon make a professional level DSLR with FF and speed? The 1D Mark III has the speed, but not the FF! Grrr!!!

I apologize for putting my comment in the wrong forum. The 5D isn't considered a professional level DSLR from what I understand anyway? Yes it is a good DSLR though.

depends on who you ask. i know plenty of people making a living with their 5d so i would say that it is a professional peice of equipment

Hmmm. ???

Did you miss the "1Ds Mark III" maybe?

And, prior to that, the 1Ds and 1Ds Mark II?

AFAIK, they are all considered "professional" level cameras, and are full frame. 5fps on the Mark III, not sure what the others produced.

As a more studio-oriented camera, just how much "speed" do you really need? Gotta wait 1 or 2 seconds for the strobe units to recycle, anyway, don't you?

They can. They just haven't. The reason? Money. :)

Canon haven't needed to. They probably will now to keep up with Nikon, and please all the spec sheet "professionals" whose 1 series bodies are holding back their talent.

Because the data throughput that would be required is so high at 21MP, and Canon feel that more pros need higher res FF than higher FPS full frame.

Is there a market for a 12MP FF camera with 8+ FPS? Yes. Will Canon make it? Probably with the 1D4.

could it be the rumor that the 1D lines would merge to give FF and high fps shooting like the 1-NRs?

Maybe have to see the reactions to D3 first before Canon decides to make further strategic changes.
