Forgive me since I am a newbie in photography but, I must know the filter that is mostly used on the lens to get great skintones when taken portraits/ I have seen some great pictures and was wanting to know which filters lens are used...or if any is used ot not.

Perhaps not many DSLR users use coloured filter. The reason is that the skin tone can be adjusted in Photoshop (or other program).
And coloured filter will also have a problem with auto white balance. AWB may neutralise it to some extent. (This is my guess only. I have several coloured filters but I have never put them into my DSLR...)
Alternatively, adjusting the custom white balance with "colour" will have the same effect of filter. (But it requires trial and error.) I think that Photoshop is a more flexible way.

I'm with nosquare2003. There is no need for a filter on a D-SLR as skin tones can be addressed within programs such as Photoshop.
Only on wet-film cameras, with black & white film, would you have used, say, an orange filter to remove minor skin blemishes (particulaly freckles which that filter would have lightened to match the rest of the skin tone). But even then, these negs could be scanned into PS and adjusted.
