Taken with the 5D and 24-70, just couldn't miss shooting a sight like this!

Wow, Pete, those are great. Our sunsets here in north Texas are seldom interesting -- mostly just an orange ball on the horizon with no colorful clouds. I grew up on the Texas coast where the situation was much different -- it was a light show every evening.

Holy cow! It's plain to see why you couldn't resist shooting these. They are fantastic. Stunning beauty and very well captured.

Nice pictures. The second really looks great, very nice capture. Had a look at the details 1/1000 at F8.0 I was expecting a really slow shutter speed.

Many thanks for the comments. You may have noticed that it was shot at ISO400. I did this as I was shooting the surfers earlier and needed good exposure/high SS for thos shots. I just forgot to reset the settings when shooting the sunset. I didn't have a tripod with me, so these were hand held.

There was a guy there with a medium format camera on a tripod who most probably got far better results than I did.

Edit: Noticed these are very dark on my work monitor. Guess that's the problem with working on my Viao with its super bright screen...
