Tom, it's because you wake up 3 hours after we do. We've been up for hours. :)

And that reminds me, we still need to make that list of gear. Hmmm. I have to get my wishlist going at B&H today. :) Boy, POTN really makes a deep dent in my wallet.

When will we see any video on You tube? LOL.

Suzy you are so right. POTN puts a dent in my wallet too.

I love these pictures of Lloyd posing on the floor. Did he drink too much or is he just crazy and fun?

During the day the video cam was never set up. The tripod made it up but the camera didn't.

Nor even sit next to each other during meals, right? lol

We only do that because it's easier for us to engage in discussions with OTHER people than each other :p When I have friends over for a meal or an evening, we often ask couples to not sit next to each other. I find it really helps with the mood and the discussion!

i can't take credit for this one, as one of you guys put the 10-22 on my 5D and shot this, which I thank you since I'm in the picture. :) So, here is the room when we first opened the door. We are all trying to connect to the internet and most could not.

Edit: Was that you, Lloyd?

Hey guys! I had such a fun time! Thanks so much to EVERYONE! Can't wait for the next time!

And yes, the above picture was from me. I put my 10-22 on suzy's 5D just because I wanted to see what it looked like. I converted my 10-22 to EF just so I can use it on my Mark III

I'll post more pics after I actually download them from my card!

Yeah, maybe in Portland this time??? lol I flew over 6 hours today (in a middle seat, too)!!

I might even be up for Portland ... I LOVE Portland. Although if it was in Seattle, my husband would come too. If there was a Seahawks game on at the time. LOL

I tried that. 17-55 is useless on 5D. You get the black tunnel look at all focal lengths. Totally not worth it.

What time did you wind up getting home Lloyd? Did the hotel let you stay late as well???

I got home just before midnight my time, so around 2AM your time. Man I was beat. The hotel let me check out at 2PM though, so that was nice. I took a nap.

I had such a hard time waking up today it was incredible...on top of that I'm developing a sinus infection. I'll probably wind up playing hookey tomorrow and just relaxing at home and getting caught up on some other stuff.

FYI....there are direct flights from Edmonton to Newark, NJ and JFK, NY. So if we ever meet out here I'll gladly pick you up at those airports.

Connection flights suck big time.

It's a curse I tell yeah!

My memory is horrible too, so I can relate! LOL

In photoshop, go to File > Automate > Create Droplet and then save that to your desktop.

In Lightroom, in the export window, click on "After Export" and then "Go to the Export Actions folder now" and then drag that droplet you just created into that folder.

Sha-bang, that's it!

Easy as 1-2-3!

Brian - I have all my actions doing a save right in the action, if you don't, you need to specify in the "Create Droplet" dialog box where/what to save it.

The reason I do it all in my action is because I do a Save For Web, overtop the original.

For example, in Lightroom, I'll edit a picture, export it to my Desktop as a JPG max height/width 400px, in a folder named with today's date. It will open that photo up in Photoshop, run my signature action then do a Save For Web over that JPG in the folder on the desktop. Bam that's it.

See if that fixes it.

Kristen, I had 2 cookies, which is just too many, but they were yummy. And please, come again and maybe we'll get a camera around your neck so you can hit Mike on the head when he's mean to you. :)

Love you, Mike. :)

Brian, it was great meeting you. When I go to Brooklyn to visit my mother, I'll have to call you. I love the city and would really like to have a meet there sometime. People have strong opinions about NYC, unfortunately, but for a meet next October, I think we should just plan one anyway. Mark is up for it as well.

Lloyd, you were all over the place, but I learned so much from you. Thank you and Edmonton sounds wonderful. I don't mind putting it on the list. My brother-in-law in Albany says Jasper (sp.) is amazing. We may have to do something there.

NICE WORK!!!

You can also try this method:

if you have a photobucket account (or any other photo hosting site account: shutterfly, etc.) you can upload the files to that site, organize them by folder, date or however you want.

Once they are uploaded, click on an image you would like to post on the forum.

-> right click the full image
-> copy image address (it may say something different for PCs: copy image URL)
-> go to the forum and click the "Quick Reply" or "Post Reply"
-> you will see a mountain icon (like this: http://optics.functionalparalysis.com/albums/userpics/Picture_1%7E3.png )
-> click on it. then right click and click paste the link you copied from the picture.
-> press enter and then post your reply.

Give it a try!

Right click this image and try reposting it!

Great ones, Lloyd. That's more how much gear we had lying around. It was really great when we all got ready to shoot. It was like secret agents getting their armor and guns ready. No one talked, we all concentrated on what we were putting on our bodies and how we were going to hold everything. I wanted to take a picture of that, but found myself rushing to keep up. :)

And here are a couple shots of the models.

I didn't think I had anything because I literally have like 9 shots total of all 3 models...

http://www.nightanddayphoto.ca/misc/forumpics/POTN/Albany07/20071103_5631.jpg

And here are two shots from the parking lot. The purpose of this exercise was to use off camera lighting to get a half decent shot even in the ugliest places. I figured the parking lot with all the cars and the big red Desmond Hotel shuttle bus was the ugliest part of the grounds...

Lloyd those pics are great. It looks like you all are really learning from each other.

What? I am? I didn't know that! I thought I always shared. It's just that there isn't much I do to the files so there isn't much to say.

thanks dood! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the last 3 because I honestly didn't think I had anything. Most of my shots were just light testing.

anyhow, the cross processing was done in CS2. I know there are cross process presets for lightroom; but I just don't have any of them. I would much prefer to do it all in Lightroom, so if you have an awesome CP preset I'd love to know!

The three pics used ShowitEffects' CP actions. 1 and 3 used "cross process", and 2 used "Punched" which to me is like a warm yellow (rather than the usual cold and blue) cross process. those are the only two effects I use in showiteffects.

Rich, you need one of those 70-200 2.8 IS. Almost every pro, at least, had one. It is my second most used lens during events season. Sometimes, it's the only lens I take on my 5D or 20D because I know I'll be far away from the action. For weddings, it's almost a must these days. But it's a great picture, Mark. I am going to send a copy to my sons. :) Thanks.
