Ditto for me. :) It looks like you guys put a dent in it anyway.

Kathy, a toilet phone is what I need in my tiny bathroom here at home ;). Thanks for modeling it.

but would you actually use the phone while doing a number 2? i'd be far too embarassed, lol...

or is it for another purpose that i've overlooked? lol :D

Getting back to the topic. :) I'm processing more shots today. But really, I think we've covered it all. Getting the few model shots I have and sending them. James or Robert, please tell us where to mail the CD's to in PM's or the bridal shop address. Thanks.

Is that a plane outside... yeah, I think it's a plane! Do you have planes in NJ?
It sure is dark early today...

It's finally getting cold, but it's raining today.

We're going to be in an urban enviroment so I think they'll mostly be back light with a little fill.

But thanks for the advice.

I just talked to the people at the Desmond today. They wanted to know if everything went okay. I told them we were grateful for the ease of use of their facility. No one even complained about us and the staff said it looked like we were having a great time. :)

So, I asked if they wanted any copies of shots we took around their hotel. They said they'd love it for PR. If some of you don't mind, I think we should let the Desmond PR people have at it with our shots to publicize. But the release of the models is most important. I think we need to iron out a few things with them.

Again, thanks for everyone really enjoying the hotel and each other without making me get a big bill after. I think we need to do this again every year. Just won't be the same as the first time, but who knows. Whenever I've gotten together with any of the POTN friends, it's been amazing and fun.

That's awesome Suzy, but we didn't do anything disruptive or destructive, and we put everything back the way we found it (a few of us stayed a couple extra minutes to set the lodge up the way it was when we came in). Also we paid for the facilities and our rooms. While I don't mind giving the models and the dress shop photos in exchange for the valuable service that they provided, I'm hesitant to just give the Desmond photos that we took there. The provided a great service, which we all paid for...we don't owe them anything else. There were some awesome photos that came out of the shoot...from everyone...photos that have value in marketing the Desmond to prospective brides and grooms (i.e. photos that make them money). I don't think it's cool to give them the photos for free. Just my $.02...

I agree with this, we paid for their services and behaved professionally. I feel that giving them such great marketing supplies for free while we couldn't even get coffee just isn't right.

SuzyView

I don't think they are expecting anything from us. I just thought a few pictures, maybe around 5 (seriously, that's it) and call it good. I was thinking a few that Lloyd took of the models in the gazebo area with the skylights, a few that Jeff took in the far side of the courtyard, and few from the doorway. That's it. Heck, I wouldn't give everything up. :) What we are giving to the models and the bridal shop is really appropriate. And we all behaved ourselves perfectly well and they said that. I wouldn't expect anything else. It was all good.

arch1tect
6th of November 2007 (Tue), 18:38
Suzy, next time I'd check with the people who took the photos before offering. Unless you have something to offer for free, don't offer it because now some of the other people will feel pressured to give the images.

MDJAK
6th of November 2007 (Tue), 19:08
I don't think much needs to be made of this offer of pics. The Desmond will probably forget about it. Nobody needs feel any pressure. Heck, I don't feel any because any shots I took would scare away potential weddings :(

I agree with Jamie! Suzie we all paid for the use of the room and everyone that stayed paid for there rooms. Remember when we were going to get coffee and they wanted to charge $5 a head, we dont need to give them anything. I spoke to two of the girls and we are going to meet thursday for the model releases. I should be able to get the other release by sat. I will then post it for everyone.

If everyone could send me 5-10 of your favorite photos of each girl on a disc so i could make them copies that would be great. I will also make a copy for Davids Bridal for loaning the wedding gowns to us. They also have not called me about a cleaning fee for the gowns yet. I dont think they are going to though.:)

Please send them to

Thanks for the update Rob!

For the record, I agree with Jamie. They didn't necessarily go "above and beyond" for us - again, the $5.00 coffee thing. Why should we do so for them?

Either way, the models will be super happy with the shots :)

I've never used photobucket before, but, I'm sure that they give you a link once you upload a photo to them, right?

Well, copy that link, click the little mountain icon at the top of your reply window and paste the link in there.

In college, we used a horse water trough. When it got empty, two guys decided to get in and have a bath. But I think they were largely responsible for the emptiness of said trough.

My hubby and 2 boys love to ski. They would ski all day and I would hang out in the lodge drinking hot chocolate. Maybe I'll be at the edge of the slopes taking pictures. :) It can happen.

dude I kid you not. There are people crazy enough to do that. I've seen women skiing in bikinis. No joke. That is rare but I've seen it on more than one occasion...

Actually, I've skied many times with no jacket.

hahaha, how can you argue with that? Both Lake Louise and Sunshine have 8km (5 mile) continuous downhill runs you can do.

When we were in Banff, we actually climbed about 1 km of dirt road at Sunshine... We were misguided by our book guide... The trail started at the top of the road... the road was NOT a part of it :( But hey, once we got up there, there was a nice view!

hahaha, maybe we'll luck out and see some. But probably not. When the temps drop though, it can get really cold on the slopes. I won't lie.

PICS!!! was this sunshine? I've hiked from the bottom to the top in the summer. That was tough, but walking DOWN was even tougher.

It's roughly $500 round trip to fly into Calgary, then add the car rental or shuttle and lodging. Way over my budget.

Seattle is proof that you can live on coffee and beer. Great town, lots of neat history. I would probably have to bring mmy wife along on that one. (She shoots Canon too!) She has always wanted to go out there, but she never could come along on my business trips.

Lots of of goo beers up in VT, good skiing too!

have you ever skied on dry powder? oh man, it's amazing. The powder can be so dry and loosely packed that sometimes you're blasting through and you can't even see your skis or feet because it's cutting through the powder. It's so loose that it doesn't even slow you down. That's a rare condition but amazing nonetheless.

I have all my off-time allocated for my honeymoon next year, so a road trip is definitely not going to happen.

Stratton always has good deals and it's on the slopes which is what I like.

No, just sitting on a few. I had them pose normal, then do the toogy style for fun. The closer on is actually out of focus as it was getting late and I had it at f2.8. But if it were earlier, I would have set it better.

Looks like you guys and gals had a blast. However due to that fact this meeeting was up north. I think it would only be the fair thing to do is have the next one down here in the south. Say the Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin area sounds good to me with St Louis or Nashville coming in a close second.
