With my new 20D (after being with Olympus), I think it was finally time to register up on this site...

Although the storm's name was ironic, it was definitely worth taking the camera out as the landscape changes drastically...

1. Tide coming in, along with a lot of goodies.
2. Waves breaking in a nearby water-front home.
3. Conch shell stuck in a sand wall, there were literally 500 on this beach alone either under or above the sand, partially or completely broken.
4. Entry to a residential canal.

Last but not least.. my two ladies ;)

Hope you enjoy the pictures, all feedback (and criticism) welcome, thanks for looking !

#1 I find interesting because it looks like you got a wide-angle shot using a normal lens by choosing the angle you did. But the perspective doesn't seem odd.

I like #2 a lot, but the spray is a bit blown out and distracting.

I don't really love #3 or #4, but I don't know that there's anything wrong with either of them.

#5 is cute, but your puppy doesn't seem like she really wants to be there. ;)

Also, welcome! But you shouldn't have hesitated to join up earlier. I'm still an Olympus shooter, and that obviously hasn't stopped me. :p

Thank you for the warm welcome :)

Puppy is definitely not feeling the winds, stormy ocean or incoming rain ;) I agree with your constructive criticism, thank you for feedback!

A hell of an entrance with this series, number two all the way, it has the right stuff.

Hey Noel. I can only agree with other - as you probably know yourself - #2s worked a treat, and your two ladies must be delighted with their representation. Re #2, the thing that's given me pause is that I can't quite work out where the big splash at top left/centre is coming from. What wave's hit what obstacle to produce that splash? And looking at that area, it's very grainy. Maybe it's the file-size restrictions in the forum...? Or maybe you've a touch over-done the local contrast enhancement / tone-mapping, contrast stretching and/or sharpening? Anyway, really nice work. Cheers, Tony

Thank you Ansel & Tony, the splash was indeed quite strong but what I should have done and didn't was use the clonse stamp to add more detail from nearby :) The other factor is that I wanted any splash or crashing water to be all white and a stark contrast to the overall picture, thus emphasizing the storm.

Thanks again for the crit...

Cheers

This new one is my second favorite (after the original #2). Keep up the good work, my friend!
