I'm new with BW and I'd like to have some tips on how to obtain a good BW pic.
If someone know a good URL or have good tips, please share.
Thanks.

The first photo is very nice!

For converting to b&w, you can try the method described here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34977&highlight=

My personal choice would be the first photo. But I think the increased contrast of the castle in the second photo is better than the subdued contrast in the first.

The first photo has got it it. The second blows all clouds and looses emotion. I look at #1 and feel excited, like being a kid again. The contrast is nice and doesn't need, much if any adjustment.

My advice for digital black and white is never use the BW setting on the camera. always shoot RGB. You have 3 gray images when you get home. (Each R, G & B channel is a grayscale image) Once you master layer masks in Photoshop, you can paint out/in the best areas from each gray plate for one final composite BW photo. As with this castle, you could maybe brushed in some lighter channel details to accentuate the windows and doors.

I think that the #1 is perfect like it is.
I love castels. Where was it taken?
