I am planning on taking a trip to a fairly local (Northampton) Balloon Festival this weekend. I want to cover the Night Glow flights on Friday and possibly the early morning flyaway on Saturday morning, all weather dependant.

Are there any tips to try and make the trip as succesful as possible?

The morning flights are due to commence at 06.00 and I know that sunrise is around 05.00, so the light should be warm and kind in the morning.

Any tips gratefully accepted.

I took a couple of "night glow" balloon shots last year and these are the settings I used:

For this one, I used 1/10 sec, f/4.5 ISO 800. It was pretty much dark out when I took this one.

And for this one, I used 1/25 sec, f/4.5 ISO 800. This was taken a little earlier before it got totally dark. That's the reason for the not-so-black sky.
