Hello, I got a second Canon film camera EOS 300, which in true word sucks! I couldn't even adjust the aperture in Manual mode. More over I think it has no option to program one step up or one step down at least. The controls are so wired, I just cant reach the right button at the right time.

Forgetting all these, is there any one who still keeps track of the film cameras, be kind and suggesting me which one should I go for? My budget is close to 125 ponds (+- 15). I found many at this link (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=blended&field-keywords=canon%20film%20cameras&results-process=default&dispatch=search/ref=pd_sl_aw_tops-2_blended_208280420_2&results-process=default) but to be frank i just dont want to be foolish again.

thanks and I apologies if you find my post rude.

Hi,

I know on my 400D I have to press another button to adjust the Aperture, I'll go and grab my EOS 500n and see what I have to do there, I can't remember off the top of my head.

I'll edit this post with the response, hopefully..

Nick

EDIT: I have to hold down the "AV +/ -" button then move the wheel at the top.

I shoot only in slides and for continuous shooting i use my new Canon 400D.

Oh ok. I shoot HP5 for my photographic course, but I always use my 400D otherwise. I'm yet to try slide film, but I should do soon.

Thanks,

Nick

Not really...do a search on Ebay. Here in the states, I've seen them for $50 USD.

Ebay A-1 (http://photography.search.ebay.com/Canon-A-1_Film-Cameras_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR40QQsac atZ15230QQsatitleZCanonQ20AQ2d1)

Oh, that model. Well I am kind of looking for automatic cameras.

Thanks anyways.

Get yourself a Canon Elan II/50. Very easy controls to figure out, well laid out set-up, very inexpensive and it will take EF lenses.

Check eBay. They're everywhere on there.

No.. hope for an EOS-3 or at least a used EOS-3. Eye control is more of a gimmick than really useful. The very soft touch shutter button of the EOS-3 is great. It allows your to keep your camera steady without having to push down much on the shutter button - much easier than even the 5D and the viewfinder blackout time and shutter lag is considerably less with the EOS-3.

One thing is the EOS-3 has it's own type of viewfinder diopter adjustment lenses that are different than the ones that fit the majority of Canon SLRs.

Not sure what you mean by automatic. The only thing the Canon A-1 doesn't have is autofocus. One of the best cameras made; I used it for 26 years and only changed batteries every four or five years.

When I bought my 30D a year ago, I gave my A-1 away (including including case, tripod, Canon speedlite, extra lens, and filters) - no cost to a student.

I couldn't have sold it if I tried - well I might have got enough from it to pay for the newspaper ad.

Elan 7's are pretty cheap used these days if you wanna use your EOS lenses, assuming you have any.

Automatic means to me auto focus. Previously I used Nikon F60 and then EOS 400D. With out auto focus I dead meat.

Is there some thing close to F60? EOS 300 is good but there is no option to control aperture in manual mode and also the buttons are wired. I like the 400D's settings. its just perfect to switch to any thing at any time.
