My Canon S40's TFT screen seems to have small blotches of dark areas which are noticable when the camera is switched off. It looks like moisture may has got into the TFT panel, however, the camera has been no-where near water. It is only visible in direct sunlight. Does anyone else have the same issue? I have ensured the camera is kept in dry conditions at all times.

Thanks!!!

Hi Sharkpat,

Glad you brought it up. I noticed that my LCD screen has two dark botches at about one o'clock. Interestingly, it can only be seen when i use a polarized sunglasses.

I contacted Canon online and they said to bring it in. No idea what's going on.

Have not seen anyone else complaint about this problem.

I havent heard of anyone else with this problem either. The camera is going back to Canon today, and I should know the outcome in about 5 days... I'll let you know.

The camera has gone no-where near water. It's only been to California where the temperature is high, but shouldnt cause this to happen.

Hmm

Polarizing lenses will do that every time. Thats how they work.

Take a look through a zone toughed widscreen sometime through your polarizers and you will notice a similar effect.

I get the same problem on my A40, but let me tell, you it is nothing compared with trying to see through a polarizing filter with polarizing glasses on. I got caught like this using my SLR (a Canon FTB would you believe). Thought the whole thing had just packed up until I took my sunglasses off.

Hope this helps
