Ehh do I misunderstand something here?
The camera is advertised as an 8.2 Megapixels camera but the resolution of the images are 3072x2048 pixels which according to my calculator results in 6 megapixel ??? ( That is if the information is at all correct at this time )

I have to wonder about this since Canon's own website has not announced a 10D replacement.

Canon have accidently ealier today "relased" all the photos of the camera just not the specs. Canon have removed the images again.

I think that may be the red flag that says this is bs.
However, there will be something on the horizon, and close I might add.
I was just at a reputable dealer Camera Canada's website, and the 10D is no longer available. They put this announcement up:

I don't think everything is, maybe the specs but the photos was actually available on Canon's US site. So unless Canon themselves have produced fake photos then I would say the photos and subsequently the name is real.

The problem with the original link in this thread is that some of the data is from the 10D and some is from the 20D. I would not rely on this web site for information. I got some very nice images from usa.canon.com earlier today, before their staff decided to hide the errant information.
I have them here:

it's amazing how fast information travels on the internet. Those pictures were released today, and already we have online stores selling the camera. That poor guy at Canon. He slipped, and now Canon's new product is no longer an enigma.
I think he's being whipped as we speak. :P

I don't think anyone 'slipped' at Canon. They did the same with the 1D MK-II, letting the information leak prior to a big show just to get the interest stirred. Simple marketing ploy used by politicians for years.

August 20, 2003 was the date that the Drebel was announced. As I think the timing of this announcement is tied to Christmas, it is fairly believable that an announcement on Aug. 20 this year is real.
Perhaps someone in the IT department at Canon put the press kit on the Web site server early in anticipation of the announcement and didn't realize that some of the enthusiasts are techies too and know what to look for on a Web site to find objects that are not displayed on the pages - OOPS!
Then again, it may be, as Kenny G. suggests, a way to get the buzz started.

I have a pretty good feeling that Canon did not intend to release the stats and pictures today, however I lean towards this being legit.
Reasoning:
1. Nobody should have been able to get into that part of the web server without the correct permissions. If you can that means someone messed up or someone hacked in. I can do very evil things to a web server from that location if I had the right tools and the intent (neither of which I will ever have at home :)
2. The fact that the pages got disabled while I was in the process of checking them out indicates that they were in the process of fixing the problem this morning (US EST). The fact they were posted on 13 August to the server and it is several days past that lends crediblity to a server oops rather then a deliberate oops.
I missed out on the page with the stats, but what people have copied looks reasonable, although I find a 8MP and 1.6 to be puzzling unless they are using the Pro 1 sensor or a new sensor. If the Pro 1 sensor, I won't be buying this camera. If a new sensor, then kind of strange unless they are trying out some new stuff with the 20D before later upgrading the sensors on higher end cameras. But then maybe they got a 8MP sensor figured out at the smaller pixel size then 10D/300D sensors without a significant ramp-up cost over using the 1DM2 sensor.
Since I saw it with my own eyes on the Canon site, it is either a legit oops (95% chance) or a fairly clever PS guy and hacker (5% chance)
Just my thoughts on the matter.

A dutch friend of mine who passed me the link says they are a reputable company with quite a good reputation.
I think in the rush to be first and get collect the 200 euro deposits they have made the odd error in the details, but I would imagine the bulk of the details are correct.

If it's true from those leaked photos that there is a 17 - 85 lens with IS, I just don't understand... 200mm I can understand.. 300 too... but 17 - 85? Does a lense with that range really NEED IS?

They probably just got a little hasty with putting up the page, and missed a couple of things. I suspect a "cut-and-paste in a hurry" kind of job. As it stands now, there are several discrepancies on that page.

ON the 1.6X sensor, that lens has the equivalent field of view of roughly 28-135 mm on a full frame or 35 mm film camera. It is a miniaturized version of Canon's successful 28-135 IS USM lens. Lots of people bought that lens for use with film.

This actually sounds like a real usable focal range for the 1.6x sensor.

i got the link from dpreview 1D/1Ds forum, saw pretty much all the EOS and EF images, i noticed 20D has an external white balance sensor as 1D, which would be handy, but didn't really impress me that much, and i certainly won't make a switch.
interesting thing though, there wasn't any photo of 1Ds MK II, does that mean they won't announce it or they really keeping it secret?
I doubt 20D comes with 8.2mp ... just my opinion

Plus, isn't it ironic that the 17-85 just happens to be longer on both ends than the 18-70 kit lens that comes with the Ni*on D70, AND it has IS like the coming Konica-Minolta DSLR will have (albeit not in the body)?
It looks to me like classic outdoing the competition.

It hasnt been anounced at all so i dont think anyone knows. In fact i've only heard rumors as if it will indeed be sold with the new EF-S lens, although i would expect it to be (furhter proving my point on the D70).
But, one would imagine you can get it without. You can with the 300D

Look at the image of the back side. I wonder what the button at the top right of the LCD (above the control wheel) is for ??? And it doesn't seem to have the "assist" button (which was to the left of the two buttons at the top right on the back of the 10D.

2. body + 17-85mm
3. body + 10-22mm

Everybody is making up is mind because of these six pictures.

I'm amused at how many of us have actively played the speculation game over the last few months, including taking the clumsy amateur Photoshop mock-ups seriously (built-in MP3 player indeed!!), but then go into denial mode when the real thing finally arrives.
If you won't believe in the 20D 'till you're actually holding one, then I'm guessing you'll have to wait 'till Christmas (at least in the UK).
Am I the only one who's disappointed that Canon haven't countered Olympus' trump card by including some form of dustbuster technology?

I guess I'm one of the lucky few that doesn't seem to be much bothered by dust on the sensor. As a result, I'm not at all impressed by 'dustbuster technology.'
I am generally opposed in principal to unnecessary complexity that doesn't equate directly to better pictures, so this is something that will probably never figure in my decision of which camera to buy. As long as I have my Giottos Rocket with which to clean the sensor, I don't find it necessary to have the camera do the job for me.
