View Full Version : NYC - my view

I had the luxury of spending a few days in the city. I didn't even know where to start. I always look up in cities. So going to NYC I admired the architecture straight away. I was staying near Times Square but wore out a pair of shoes walking at night and sometimes during the day.
I didn't get enough shots of people since where I was there was either WAY too many people, or there were NO people. I sometimes had to retreat to the hotel room for a break from the Times square mayhem. I simply can't imagine what it's like in summer.
Here are some samples below. My street photography isn't as strong as others and I bow to them. I had shopping to do amongst other things and I wish I could just take the camera out for a couple days with no strings attached. I bought some extension tubes and a bag at B&H, had some macro fun back in the hotel room with my watch.

Excellent series, quite a variety of well taken shots. I have to agree that the first one is the best of the group. Got anymore aerial shots?

Great captures. My experience is limited with photography in general but I find it amazing that shots from a 1d are immediately recognizable. Simply beautiful.

Great shots. I love the one of the little old lady. Did she ask you what you were doing? I'm sure that 70-200 could be a little intimidating to some.

Jason, what settings.. ISO, shutter etc were you using for the night shots, the one where the people are waiting to cross in times square in particular. Were you hand holding the 70-200 with that?

I leave my exif intact in all my posted shots. It should be there. You can save the shot and open it in windows, using firefox you can use their exif plugin or on a mac you can see it with Safari as well.
Handheld they were, but that one in particular I'm leaning on a mailbox.
