i have never done studio work before. i wanted to know how i would go about offering to help out a photographer that does studio photography work in New York city area. I'm not looking to get paid but looking to do some assistance work run errands etc etc.
does anyone know how/where i can go to look for that sort of work? i don't have any friends that are photographers although that would have been my first option.

Do you really want to assist a pro my running errands? I wouldn't mention that in an email, do you want to assist them in the studio and learn something about photography? Personally I already know how to pick-up lunch.

In New York City you might consider some of the workshop/class offerings from Adorama or B&H. The International School for Photography (www.icp.org) also offers some classes... Dennis
