ha ha ha
weirdy in London

many thanks Jim and Sandy , Charles and Forsakenme

I was a bit gobsmacked when I saw these 'masks' and kindof pushed through a crowd to get nearer and see 'what on earth'

they really were fascinating to see but I had only time to take this shot and move out of the way
the larger photo shows some of the notice which helps explain

imagine having your face lying beside you in the bed

(then again.....
I guess it could be worse)

:lol::lol:

I would guess they take a plaster mold on your face, can you imagine sticking your face in plaster while smiling ? The one with the beard is really cool,,,,

I like this shot! :-)

Those are so highly detailed reproductions I was wondering if they use some modern scanning technique, then the face is reconstructed by laser in one of those wax-filled tanks. I can't think of any traditional moulding technique that would allow the owner to keep their eyelashes, eyebrows and beards afterwards!

EDIT: No, I must be wrong. I've just noticed it says otherwise in the photo!

This is a really interesting photo marie! You have captured the detail and texture of the masks well. Somehow though, I am oddly reminded of your 'Sundays Busted' thread

many thanks for that Jim and Mike  Roger and Pio
interesting . I can't imagine for how long the cast has to set on the face
even for a few moments I think I would have panic stations if it was covering my mouth and nose

there must be a good way as they all look very happy
( maybe in their last moments)
:(

maybe a serial killer does it for a loving record of his victims
while he tickles them to death

but the details on those faces added later are exceptional

lol the busts are bursting out all over Pio
and it happens its Sunday again

I never saw the film 'face off' Roger , but I see it mentioned here and there a lot (here mostly)
lol

Based on the level of detail in the molds, I'd guess that alginate was used to create them.

I like your first shot. I think it would be much, much stronger in B&W, though.

I had tried the bl/wh....thinking it was a sure thing with those masks and the contrast, but it looks much better with slight colour
