Ahhhh,
The elusive Giant Farm Snail, half hidden in the crops.
I wish I could offer constructive critique, but, allthough I like the shot, it just misses and I am not sure why.
Nice, but not much more.

Fair Enough. I tend to agree. Time for puffy Photoshop Cloud Overlay or just scrap heap? The sky is kind of boring. The blades of grass are what made me keep it. -worth working on?

Don't be upset. Most of our photos don't rise to greatness .
A MASTER's VIEW
Please take a look at the Landscape .. and the Light essay on the Luminous Landscape. Here the author suggests that we all take (low end to high end) Snapshots, Postcards or Images !
SO WHAT ABOUT THIS IMAGE?
This is probably a snap shot.:
- the subject is limted but the farm is inviting,
- the light is mid-day but not throwing too much mood,
- the color is fine.. but like most of North American limted to green, blue and gray and white
- there are no "lines" that draw us in .. and to arrive on the hay ball is not really a treat ! etc, etc.
This image is a bit two-dimensional. Limited mental hints at perspective, depth -- partly the time of day.
YOU HAVE DONE MUCH BETTER
Your earliert post of your two horses is better . I think that you may have to set that one to a different "mode" for the Web as when I looked at it in PS, I had to invoke Adobe RGB (1998). Then it sprang to lite and life. It looks a bit dull here on the forum's web post.
So too, your web site offers a few other beauties and vaired ideas. The mist over the water with machinery (Valve perhaps) is very nice too. It introduces a special mood that is not evident in this farm post. I suspect that for landscapes, mood is very dependent on wonderful light.
I HAVE SNAPSHOTS of a SIMILAR FARM
Yup. I drive by a very, very similar scene sevaral times a month. Last year, I stopped to take a few shot before the magic hour. I had the same result as you. The eye wants it to be great, but the camera cannot make that a reality.
That is part of the alure of photography.
Love North Carolina. Nothing could be finer.
May get back to Hatteras for the wind this year.

I can't be sure where you are trying to direct me, but I'd be interested in reading it if I could find it.
Also, I did not post any horses. You have me confused with someone else I think.

Somewhere else I was reading that if you want to be a good photographer, you ought to spend time examining the works of great photographers. You will find many amazing images on the above site,
Another fine site
for great images (see its forums) is Fred Miranda's site at http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/
