No pics for this one. I'm at Starbucks, warming up with some hot chocolate, about to take the shot of Pace University near City Hall. I have the 1Ds II out on the table, 70-200 2.8 attached.
I see a kid and his mom eyeing me up. Looking at my lens/camera. I hear mom say "maybe he's a professional". As a boy crazy equipment transfixed me, not much has changed! I slowly get out a business card and tuck it in my palm. I get up, shoulder the camera and get ready to head out.
I slip the card into his hand as I walk out and give the kid a nod - pretending I'm some hot shot shooter hipster. (you laugh here).
The kid emailed me! I sent him the link to some shots of the city. I'd love to be a small part in inspiring someone to take it up for life.

What a great story! I think its great that you took the time to encourage a young'un to become more involved. Who knows... he could be a future Pulitzer Prize winner!

Jason,
That's awesome that you took the time to respond to the kid. I, still being "sort of" a kid, (17years old), have sent emails to photographers i've met, and they have just ignored them. Even photographers who have told me to "email them with questions" and then i have, don't answer me, or respond with one word..."google" so it's great you took the time to talk to him.
OH and question...what software do you use for your blogging on your site?

GoDaddy hosting and I use WordPress for the blog. Which I must admit, I have neglected lately. Monday is a holiday, I'll get some time then I hope!

Nice story, It probably meant so much to the kid that a Pro noticed him and paid him some attention. We all need to remember that we were that kid at one time.
