One item lost in the excitement yesterday was the new Canon flash bracket shown on dpreview. The press release says that this bracket will allow the flash to be mounted on the side of the camera so that it winds up on top when the camera is vertically oriented, thereby dealing with side shadow. But what about when the camera is held horizontally? Has anyone seen other web info on this bracket? I can't tell from the picture how it will work out in landscape orientation. Thanks.

I've been staring at that L bracket 'til my eyes turned cross-eyed but near as I can tell, the flash seems to mount on the left hand side of the camera. I figure the small segment is for the flash and the longer part is for the camera. If that's the case, then the flash can only be mounted on the left which makes it contrary to the way one would usually shoot portrait, especially with a battery grip installed.

You might be able to rotate the smaller segment so that it extend higher and so that the flash can be mounted on the right hand side of the camera. But then, the flash will be hanging upside down.

And, as for your question about shooting in landscape mode, looks like you'll have to take the flash off and mount it on the hotshoe.

Just my not-so-educated guess. :D

BTW, I've also considered having the camera go in the smaller segment of the bracket with the lens going between the sides of the bracket but it doesn't look like the sides are parallel with each other so I quickly dismissed that notion.
