So far the 10D price seems to be about the same. Surely, it has to drop soon, or do you guys think it will remain just a couple $$ hundred less than the 20D. Not that I'm interested in buying a new camera, I just think its interesting. I wonder if the 10D price will remain fairly steady until they're gone simply because the 10D is a proven camera and the guys needing to count on their camera AND buy one now, may elect to go with something that has proven itself over time....as opposed to the brand new-ness of the 20.
For the pro guys (wedding especially), if you had to buy a new camera today, for a wedding in a 6 months...would you get on the 20D list or would you just go buy another 10D?

It has been dropping steadily up to now (slowly though).
I think it will drop faster for a few weeks and then it will continue it's slow drop, as any eletronic thing will do.
I saw them at ebay today with "buy-it-now" for $1100. The cheapest were about $1200 last week I think.

Yeah...I got mine a few months back for $1100 though. And several places are still around $1300-$1400.

When the 20D actually hits the streets.. expect the prices on the 10D and 300D to come down.
HOWEVER.. those looking for 10D deals.. the window will most likely be very BREIF.
If Canon lives up to S.O.P.. the 10D will disappear from the market VERY fast.. leaving none collecting dust on shelves to be sold at clearance prices.
This has been true of the D30, D60, and 1D.. all of which completely disappeared before there repective replacements were readily available..
It is the 300D that will really drop in price as it will continue to be marketed alongside the 20D, and with the now greater difference in specs (Vs. 300D to 10D) the Rebel is no longer on the same footing if the 20D seels for what the 10D sold for.

Does anyone have any speculative bottom line prices for a 10D over the next couple of months?
Where do you think the 10D prices will level off at?
New? what's left
Used? Resale value?
Any guesses based on past perfromance?
Thanks,
Michael

My local Canon dealer has already cleared his inventory of all 10Ds.

This is what I'm saying.. if you want a "deal" on a 10D it will have to be used... the exisiting stock of 10D's will seel at the current price.. they'll be gone before the 20D hits the shelves.

I'm thinking that the 10D will INCREASE in value, now that we've heard what is "replacing" it in Canons's line-up.

Are we sure that the 10D is discontinued? Canon site now shows the 10D beside the 20D.

That would be interesting of it weer still sold.. it would have to get its price dropped.
My bet is that it will be discontinued sooner than later though.

Everyone's favourite retail camera store (R*tz) is now advertising $200 off on the 10D (down to $1299 from MSRP $1499 they'd been selling at right up to now).

Canon UK is still showing the 1D alongside the 1DMkII. It doesn't show the 20D at all. Maybe we are not getting it on this side of the pond? :P

??? I don't understand that logic. Do you think the 10D will become a collector's item? I can't imagine anyone wants to buy a 10D for more than $1200 or so when you can get the 20D, a much better camera, for $1500.
Despite the results of my poll thread (70% said they were keeping their current DSLR), I think the coming months there will be a LOT of people trying to sell their 300D's and 10D's to upgrade to the 20D. Second hand 300D's and 10D's will become cheaper.
CDS says the window on 10D deals will be brief - that will be the case for new 10D's, but I think there will be a lot of second hand 10D's available, also a lot of almost new ones.

Canon's web sites showed the G1 even after G3 release. Why would one expect them to have already removed the 10D, when the 20D is not yet available?
Lots of used 10Ds for sale on FM now...

The great thing is, people see the 20D and forget how good of a camera the 10D is.......... They buy a 20D and realise that the picture quality is near identical and get pissed that they sold their 10d for a sub $1000 price with a grip and whatnot. They won't get pissed, but I think there will be some surpised faces.
Best time to be in the market for a 10D.......

Best time to be in the market for a 10D.......
My thoughts exactaly - I just picked up a new one from OneCall.Com and I plan on using AMEX to price match one of the shady retailers advertised 'deals'.
My net cost should be about $950 for a brand new 10D :)
I am pretty damn happy with that deal.

Just an FYI –
I believe the American Express Gold card and the AMEX Costco card still offer the 'Best Value Guarantee’ program. See the details on if interested;
https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/benefits/bestvalue.jsp
* The AMEX Small Business card through Costco is free with Costco membership
