And no, I did not play with the Flip Verticle button! You think it's hard looking at them, it was even harder editing these. I almost threw up a little bit.

LOL, I hear ya. It made my eyes water when I first looked at them after downloading from the card.
Odd, cause I remember taking them and the perspective was fine then. These are full frames.

They do always seem to defie gravity, but then they surprise you. Here is one I caught, taking a dive.

I've never seen them fall yet. It looks like they are hopping along the underside of a log, but thery really aren't. They are walking, with one foot always holding the bark. They just do it so fast it looks like a hop. :)

I don't think he fell, he was holding on up higher and just before I clicked the shutter, he was just dropping down lowwer, I just happen to catch him. They don't seem to be still very long, so you did great job in catching them in that position.

Mitch, those are great, even if a bit disturbing :) What kind of bird is that, I can't tell from the perspective.

I'd rather see them head down as normal. They will make you sick feeling!!!

Thanks Joayne and Gary. It's just a common Nuthatch. The only bird that can run face first, down a tree. We just don't normally see them in this position. :)

Really unique shots Mitch...I'm trying to figure out how the perspective. Is it an old log fence or is it a felled tree that landed horizontally a few feet from the ground? Those nuthatches are always a blast to watch.

Scott, it's a tree that fell horizontal to the ground. The top side is a handy place to put seeds to attract the birds, while hiding the seeds from view in the bark. This is part of that area in the park that has a feeding station set up and all the frinedly birds. You might remember it from this. :)

Thanks TD. There were so many birds there and it was a nice day, that they just get all charged up and start acting like a bunch of little kids. Nuthatches are the worst. :)

Interesting photos Mitch. Woodpeckers also play the upside down game, It does not appear to bother them at all.......

It's almost like gravity doesn't affect them. :)

Interesting how the Nuthatches and Brown Creepers occupy the same tree trunk habitat but donīt directly compete. The Nuthatches go down the tree gleaning the upward facing surfaces of the bark and the Creepers circle upwards getting the stuff thatīs on the underside. Guess your Nuthatch is on to something.

I think he was hiding seeds under there. There was plenty of food and 5 or 6 of these nuthatches and other birds all competing and all of them excited. Hard to tell though what they all do. :)
