I don't have and iPhone but was kicking around the idea of getting one when the next gen is released ( Maybe Feb).
As I understand it, currently, the only way to transfer files to the iPhone is through iTunes software? ? ? It would be cool if you could attach a CF card reader to transfer files. I don't think this is currently possible but I'm not sure. I think they have or are going to release an SDK for iPhone that allows software development that runs outside the browser. Maybe someone will come up with a way.
Any thoughts?

That's what I'm asking about. There is no functionality for a mobile transfer ( without a PC) that I know of... regardless of drive size.

Interesting thought but it looks like the card needs a PCMCIA receiver which I'm sure the iPhone doesn't have

16 will most likely be next, using the same flash chip as the ipod Touch.

AFP has been installed on the iPhone. You'd have to jailbreak it, though.

AFP.... Advanced Function Presentation (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/AFP.html)? I wasn't as concerned with viewing the images but the ability to move them drectly from the CF to the iPhone.

You're talking about a piece of hardware that does it, so that it can be done without an acutal computer?
Otherwise, it depends on how you have your itunes set up. I have it so that anything in my "my photos" folder gets synched with my ipod (there isn't much in there, so it gets used for that). So anyting I put in or take out from there, will be reflected on the ipod next time it's synched.
