The other day I was photographing some anglers by the river.
A kid who just hooked a 24" trout asked me to take a picture of him holding his trophy, which I did.
Then he wanted the picture e-mailed to him and insisted he'd pay me.
"OK, how much money have you got in your pocket?"
"Five dollars:(" the kid replies.
"That will do" says I.
"You probably charge lottsa money for your big jobs, right ?"....he wondered with a kinda guilty expression.
"Most definitely, we the Sports Illustrated staff photographers are not exactly cheap."
My very first dollar earned from photography.;)

I'm still waiting for my first money.
I've been published in "International Sheepdog News" and "BOC Gases Staff Newsletter"...

Man, I am blushing in this exalted company even tho' I have earned a few quids myself in the past but chose not to brag about it
So, that is a fine shot Pete (the Canuke one - I ain't seen Pete the Cockney's shot as I don't subscribe to the BOC Gas newsletter!) and I think the deal was about right - the rest if your 'salary' shall come to you in Heaven:-)

Everything is relative. To me a kid is 6 years old. To Petkal you are a kid and to a 300 year old petkals a kid. :D

That is pretty cool, its actually interesting to see someone offer to pay because most people just figure that with digital nowadays the images are free... so why should they pay for an image?
And yeah, I was expecting some 8 year old kid. Luckily it wasn't because I was going to angrily post that you shouldn't have taken all his money he had saved up over the years ;)

Just remember, big guy, that it was we little peasants, with our carefree critiques and endless encouragement, who directed you down the professional path.
Don't be a stranger to those who provided the hours of fulfillment in the Pete & Condy shows when you find yourself walking the corridors of National Lampoon - er - Geographic. ;)
*snigger*
Actually, seriously, well done to the guy for offering the dough.

Yep. Looks like a $5 shot to me.
If you had brought the ambient down a bit, had him remove his sunglasses and used fill flash, it would have been worth $6.
($6 Canadian, anyway)
