After 7 weeks to the day, I have just picked up my MkII. (WOW!) Just going to put the battery on charge. The 'weather man' says it's going to be a great w/end. Think I'll sleep with it under my pillow tonight. Doesn't matter how old I get I still get excited over a new camera...and this one makes it feel like Christmas. Regards [F.R.]

Don't forget to 'condition' the battery at least twice before using it. You'll be taking pictures sometime next week.

Awesome man.. you'll love it.
PS.. I had not read any of the "condition your battery" stuff before I stsarted... so I "conditioned it" buy actually using it after the first charge.
Seems to have had no ill effects.. and I still get 1300-1500 shots on a charge :)

Actually, what I heard (and choose to believe) was that you should condition the battery the first three times you recharge the battery. It didn't say not to use the battery between charges.
Have a good weekend.

Reckon I'll have to 'condition' me as well...just a wee bit heavier than the DRebel. I'll make sure to read about the 'conditioning of the battery'...Thanks. [F.R.] :) or should I make it... :D :D

tuna to alabaster dancing shoes
Tuna to Alabaster dancing shoes?? Very interesting analogy.
More like salmon eggs (bait) to beluga cavier, no?

No offense intended for the drebel or it's owners. I was just pointing out that shoes and fish aren't even similar things. The salmon egg/caviar comparison was merely to represent the lower and higher ends of the same family (fish eggs).

I doubt that many Drebel owners would be offended. Whereas they own a perfectly capable photographic insturment, even the most strident among them would freely admit that there have to be significant differences between the Drebel and the 1D Mk II beyond the fact that one is 4 1/2 times as expensive as the other.
Another way to look at it: The Drebel body costs about 20% of what a Mk II costs. That's just about the only direct comparison that can be made; everything else is apples and oranges.

Didn't get around to charging up last night after all, but the battery is 'sucking up juice' now. Reading the Charger and the Battery instructions I gather that if the battery is not used for a long while it may not charge up to it's maximum capacity. In this case the battery should be charged and discharged several times to restore it to it's full capacity. Nowhere does it say this has to be done from new. What I am going to do is charge up to full capacity, use the camera for a couple of days and THEN refresh. Probably repeating this twice, and then carry on as normal. Any remarks? [F.R.] :)

Sounds like a plan to me.
