Battery conditioning

I've seen people talking about conditioning their battery. I can't find this in my Rebel's manual. What is conditioning the battery and how do i do this? Thanks!

Lithiums do not need conditioning. However, it is reported that lithiums do better when they are not fully discharged before recharging.

The 1-Series cameras use a battery that does need to be conditioned from time to time.
