Too bad I was on the small Jpeg when I shot this.

I didn't expect it to turn out nicely, cause this was shot in a car, at night and we were crammed in so tightly that we had to sit on each other.

ANY comments are welcome. I wanna learn, so be harsh. Find at least 3 things to improve.

I like it, a good photo.

If you watch it without a reference to what were the shooting circumstances the overall look is artistic and makes you think what is going on there ( = good thing). But when knowing where it was shot does not get you there, so as PJ shot this would not be a good one :) Did you take any wide shots which show the lack of space and that it was a car?

The colors frame the face nicely (would have been better still if ear was covered or OOF'ed too). Skin is slight too detailed and sweaty - again ok for the situation but taken out of context makes you feel that pretty face could do with more softer approach (no flash, open aperture).

Composition could have been better slightly more to the left (or tilted), the black area is bit too wide - meaning: I would have tried to use the off focus colors even more as a frame to the centered eyes-mouth triangle. Maybe.

It is no flash/open aperture. ISO 800 50mm/1.8... The light fall off is the car lamp directly above her.

Ah, ok. Still, to give an impression of a cosy tight place among friends a wide shot would have perhaps been better. As it is it is more like surreal in content and nice one as such.

What do you think? Do you think you dug out the essence of the moment? Were you trying to get an excerpt or the whole picture?

Hehe

I wasn't thinking of the effect I was trying to achieve. :? Had no clear goal in mind...

Daaam, that's a good realization (thanks for mentioning):

Lesson 1:

When taking a picture, keep in mind the desired effect you want to achieve.

Now, I'm gonna go out and get some pics with that in mind. LOL Why didn't I thought about it before?
