Hey,

Ive been getting some specs of dust appear on some of my pictures.
(When the light sky, white some etc appears in pictures)

so i thought it was time i cleaned my sensor, all fine and dandy.
Done it by what the manual says apart from a blower which i don't have.
So i used a straw to blow though.

I didn't manage to blow much dust off, i can see that there is a big spec of dust and several small bits glinting at me with glee!!

Now is it a good idea to clean/touch the sensor with something like a cotton bud or something?
Or would the best thing to do would be to grin and bear it for now until i get a real blower?

Thanks

Congratulations mate, you might've just ruined your sensor.

Do you mean that you blew through your mouth into the straw onto the sensor? That's a bad idea, because you now have drops of dried saliva stuck to your sensor. And as you know it's slightly basic, so it might put some damage.

You should clean the sensor with either methanol/special swab or with the dust blower.

You'll now HAVE TO get the swab and clean the sensor. You still might have a slight discoloration or something though...

I routinely spit-pollish my sensor all the time
