And you can get great deals on old models.

Just got an i960 from Fry's for $119.

I wish they would just sell a few of the european models here in the states.. they have version of all there popular printerd that can print on a CD directly.. but they don't sell ANY of them in the States :(

From what I understand, the US distributors and major US outlets for Canon don't want the european models in the US. For many products it is usually the big distributors and outlets that dictate marketing policy to manufacturers. You will also mostly find that product names and numbers are different for the US, like Bogen in the US and Manfrotto in the rest of the world. I don't know what the deal really is behind it all, but it looks to be very deliberate.
