i really like the first couple of the guitar. i wish i could play. i can play guitar hero really well though. haha

Hey, thanks for the comments. pretty simple really, just used a 580 flash off the camera. just the one light, pretty obvious where it was coming from on each of the photos. shot with my 30D and a 17-70 L series. all on 100 ISO, i think around 125th/sec and diff. f -stops on all of them, the last one was 2.8 I belive. any other questions let me know, but it's a pretty quick and easy setup.

I am intrigued that you made use of a flash!
I always though that a flash over-blows most shots and yours seem to have very subtle and soft lighting. Have you stepped down the brightness in post processing or can the 580 offer up this type of light through its own settings?

ya you can set the power of the flash on your own in the manual mode, but as far as the last two especially having a soft look to it was because the flash was underneath the clarinet, which in turn was also bouncing off the ceiling, making it alot softer then a direct flash. not to much work in photoshop, some levels and basic stuff.
