Friends and family is usually the best place to start

your right...well i live on long island for the military...so no family here...but i figured with being so close to NYC there has got to be some local bands and other events that are worth shooting...even if i am just another patron not so much asked to be there.

any members reading this from the long island nyc area, if you know of anything on the island that would be great. i would love to learn from anyone willing to help

Are you a recruiter or are you on-base? If you are on base you could try the photolab or graphics shop and see if you can tag along as a second shooter. Also, the chaplain is almost always in need of a photographer in my experience. If you are a recruiter grab some dep'ers and shoot away while they are pt'ing or something. Good Luck

i am actually a parachute rigger. the V.I ( visual info)shop is across the hall..i can try that. I have skydived with my camera and got some good stuff and also video. but those are good ideas to hang with the recruiters

Im here in fayetteville/ft. bragg and like to sit on the dz after a jump and take pics. They have the Fort bragg newspaper here and alot of people on base that are into photography get pics in there.
