Assuming I want the best image quality for the sigma 70-200 2.8... What converter should I get? What are the benefits?

Sigma is 100 bucks cheaper than Canon.

I don't think there is much to choose (if anything) between the Canon 1.4x and the Sigma 1.4x TCs.

I found the Sigma EX 2x TC worked better on my Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 EX than the Canon EF 2xTC II. I got more purple fringing with the Canon. However, neither worked well in my opinion.

The Canon TCs are "weather sealed" whilst the Sigmas aren't. Weather sealing is only useful if your lens and body are weather sealed too. Otherwise the designs are pretty much the same.

Doc,

My lens collection started as mostly Sigma.. and as the Sigma t-cons are very much more affordable, as well as being designed to specifically function with certain Sigma EX lenses,.. I went with them.

I have not been disappointed. The Sigma 1.4X and the 70-200mm work very well together.

Nice. What about sigma 2x converter? Is that thing worth it?
