Newbie here! I have been using a Canon PS for the past couple of years and was just making the jump (last Thursday) to the DRebel. Then I saw the posts here about the D20, cancelled my DR order and placed an order for the D20. In the meantime my local camera shop is allowing my to use a new DR till my D20 arrives.
My question is -- can I shoot in RAW format in the basic mode?

On the 10D you cannot shoot RAW in "fully automatic" - the so-called "green zone." However in P mode, which automatially sets many exposure settings including shutter speed and aperture, you can shoot RAW.

IIRC, the DR won't do raw except in the custom (P, Av, Tv, M) zone. The PIC zones take control of all that for you.

No such thing exists named a D20.

Guess I shouldn't have been reading about the" D30" before I posted.

Nobody has ever claimed that Canon has a consistent model numbering scheme.

2. D30* - D60* - 10D* - 20D
3. 1D* - 1D Mark II
