This is a shot from my trip to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. For those of you that dont know of this area, its a natural cavern that goes down 750 feet below the surface. It actually goes some 1100 feet but the general public cant go that depth. Anyway, this shot is of a formation called "The Doll House". What you are looking at is on the order of about two or three feet tall. I was hard taking shots in this cave due to lighting. I took around 150 shots and almost all of them were 20 to 30 second exposures. Give me some thoughts on this one, the conversions are turning out to be much harder than I thought they would be.

That's really cool! It almost seems like you could walk around in there. I'm guessing you were allowed to bring a tripod along?

Thanks, this picture really doesnt do the formation justice. The caverns are really cool, if you are ever in the area its a must see.

Looks pretty neat! I have seen to many horror movies so I would be expecting some alien to pop around the corner

I had thoughts of the whole place caving in for a brief second but it passed. Thanks for looking.

Great shot Rab. You captured an enormous amount of detail in a challenging light. I realize these things are a matter of taste, but I would add a brightness/contrast layer at 50% opacity -- increase brightness +4 and contrast by +35 or so. You did such a good job at exposing the shot I wonder if you have room to bring more contrast out. Just a thought.

thanks for the suggestions. I will give it a try. Its already pushed pretty hard. the image you are seeing is the result of two exposures combined. Lots of masking and color dodging pre conversion. I dont know how much more PP it could take before it fell totally apart.

I'd love to see this in color with a boost in contrast and saturation....little here, little there, and soon you're carried away.
