I have no idea what this is, never seen one before either. Its about 10mm long. Looks like some insects sitting on it. Can anybody identify it?

Looks like it could be some sort of mealy bug? Wow..thats a strange insect.

It is Icerya purchasi (Fluted Scale) Johan. Found all over SA. The fluted egg sac may contain as many as 1,000 eggs.

That is a strange looking bug! Thanks Photogirl for the ID And thanks Johan for sharing it! Looks like some crazy teeth at the front there

This is an import from Australia and is about 8mm in length, and are eaten by ladybirds.

it looks like icing that got dropped on a barbers floor. crazy but that is cool to know what it is. and i hope i never find on in my trees.
