My one suggestion is take off your UV filter.

I made adjustments to the Black Point setting and the mid-tone setting in "Levels".
Do you like that better?

Sign up with a free account with PhotoBucket and upload images there and link them into your post here. ;) What are using to edit images? You need to remember to make the final color profile sRGB and images no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side.

Bob what program are you using to fix the pictures. Is their a simple program out there I can use. In todays world one can take a really bad picture, and with the tools we have on line etc. one can make it look like a million bucks. It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. remember the old days buy film shoot picture dark room and only their could one work their magic.

I use Photoshop CS3 (version 10.0) - However, for most ordinary image editing Micrografx Picture Publisher or Adobe's Elements have the tools needed.
The mods that I made to your picture used only the "Levels" tool.

Bob I see you have the G5, as do I. I made a mistake and bought the lens adapter kit. You know oyu put the tube thingy over the lens and attach lens to it. It's a nightmare to get a good clean image. The G5 great camera, but I think people should save their money and buy a good SLR, Thanks so much for your help.

I'm still getting used to the XTi - I shoot more pics with the G5, because it's simpler to carry around. The G5 is perfectly adequate for anything up to 16 x 20".

Just for some inspiration,
Heres my all time favorite lightning shot from the Joel Meyerowitz book Cape Light.
